Our swim program has been especially researched and designed to cater for infants from 3months of age through to approx 2 ½ years. Its never too early or late to learn how to swim and we do cater for all ages. Starting a child at any age is one of the greatest gifts you can give them. Swimming lessons are unique as unlike any other sport this is a skill that carries over to your adult years and is the only sport that can literally help SAVE your life. Fish Links is a private swim school that is Nationally registered with Swim Australia and we are proud to have been one of the founding members of Swim Australia. To visit their web site and for some great articles and information please follow this link - Swim Australia The program at Fish Links progresses as follows: Did you know that studies have shown that children who start swimming at an early age are less susceptible to illness? Simular studies have also shown that it gives children a head start developmentally. This is due to them being physically active and healthy on a regular basis. Being physically active stimulates both sides of the brain meaning that children starting out young are more likely to be ready for kinder and school than those who are not as active.
These are just some of the benefits of starting young. Many people ask what exactly can a baby learn and how do they retain this information. Through the first three stages of our swim program we teach you about the stages of development your child will go through in the water and where relevant on land. Our aim is not to make a child 'water proof' it is to teach you (the parent) the skills needed to teach baby so they are able to enjoy the water but more importantly develop a respect of the water. You can start at any stage within the three levels without having completed the level before. These classes are grouped on age and the babies developmental stage rather than their physical ability. To progress to the Baby Graduate class they must successfully complete the first two levels. Classes are fun and encourage babies to interact with others on a regular basis, classes will seem repetitive for parents however babies learn through regular repetition and practice as well as familiarity which is why we set a 'regular' routine for the class. For parents it is a great chance to spend special time with your new baby and meet other parents. Both parents are welcome in the water however consistency is important so if mum or dad will be the person every week in the water it is important the routine be maintained as much as possible. Eenee nappies are for all children that are not yet toilet trained you can purchase these for $20 at reception. Parents will need to wear a dark t-shirt in the water, the reasons for this will be explained your first lesson.
