Parent Contact Weeks

In an effort to improve communication between teacher, parents and management we have introduced our Submerge Newsletter to come out next term. This has proven to be a success so far with positive feedback from many parents. Please be sure if your not on email or you know someone who is not on email to let them know these updates are posted on the newsletter board at the pool.

In 2005 we introduced 'Parent Contact Week' it was a great success and we have continued doing this each and every term. Once a term where lessons will finish 10-minutes early so parents can talk to teachers regarding their child's individual progress.

In the past we have generally finished most classes 5-minutes early where possible so lessons run 25 minutes and teachers have time to catch up with parents. However this doesn't seem to be sufficient time to talk to all parents in the group and is often overlooked by teachers should they be busy with working on a particular skill.

Introducing 'Parent Contact Week' will mean that every lesson will run for the full 1/2hr each week from now on except for during parent contact week where we will finish 10minutes early.

If you feel you require more time to talk to the teacher about your child's progress you can call our message bank 9306 1548 or email us and we will have the teacher call you at an appropriate time.

Please send us your feedback regarding the newsletters and Parent Contact Week and should you have any further suggestions as to how we can improve communication between parents and teachers it would be very much appreciated.

Underwater Photo Weeks

What started as a hobby has become an annual event!

Each year we have an underwater photo week where during lessons we take photos of those children who have returned their forms.

Following the week parents receive some great photos of their children and we put up a new photo frame at the pool with the best photos for that year. Now in its 6th year we look forward to the next photo day in 2007.

All pictures are copyright to Fish Links Swim School. Some on this web site are copyright to "Graphic All Sorts"

If your interested in us coming to do underwater photography at your swim school please give us a call on 9306 1548 for more information.

Thank you
Katie Clarke

Notices

Cars are not to be parked on the basketball courts at all please this includes dropping children at the door then driving back and parking the car.

The only exception to this rule is for Staff as in the case of an emergency we would need to have cars readily available, and those with a disabled permit. The school has strict rules about this which we need to follow. Understandably the school do not want oil on courts where children play regularly.

The children's toy chairs and tables are not to be used to sit on by adults please. We have had several break due to parents sitting on them, and they are there for the children to use. if you need more chairs we can always get extra ones out if needs be. The table and chairs should only be used by children colouring in eating or doing home work and so on.

Please do not use these tables either to change babies on. we don't have baby change tables and this is for good reason. Despite the signage people do still use the change mats either on the children's table and chairs or on the seats in the changerooms.

A significant number of children rolled off these for your child's safety we ask you place the change mats on the ground to change children please. We do not have baby change tables because they are elevated so high that should a baby fall off onto the concrete floor they could be seriously injured.

Toys for Home and Play swims

Ducks and frogs for the bath can be found at some Kmart stores however they also have them online if you check out our Links page.

Equipment Upgrades

Thanks to our sponsorship from both the Australiana Group and Microboss we have been gradually updating all equipment for the swim school including purchasing lifejackets, new toys, new flippers and now new kickboards.

In the pool we still need to upgrade floaties and other teaching equipment which we will continue to do so over time. A priority at this point is looking at purchasing or hiring two heaters for the pool area to use during winter it is quite costly to do so and we are assessing the pro's and con's of whether to buy or hire these.
